I’m writing this in hopes of thanking Coolio for being an awesome person. Last night, a few friends, my fiancĂ© and I went to watch Coolio and his group perform at the 4th of July Rooftop Paradise party at Clearwater Casino in Suquamish, WA. This show was my fiancĂ©s 1st ever concert experience as well as a first for two of our friends who attended. My sister, who grew up listening to all of Coolio’s music, was unable to be at the show and literally begged me to bring her a signed Cd from him, to which I promised her I would. After the show, our group purchased Cd’s, T-shirts, and other memorabilia and were the first to get in line for a photo op with Coolio himself. As we had made our purchases, I was relieved we were told by staff that Coolio would be signing everything we were buying. However, after we got in line for photographs, a different man approached our group and informed me that Coolio would be doing “photos only” with “absolutely no signing”. This news immediately changed my entire mood. A couple minutes later, Coolio came out and our group was the first photo up. I stood next to him, he put his arm around me, turned and asked “How’s your night going?” With a disappointed face I responded, “Not very well. I promised my sister I’d bring her something signed by you and they just said u weren’t doing that.” He then turned back at me, smiled and replied, “Don’t worry, I got you!” He took a photo with us, and we went and stood over to the side. He continued taking pictures with other guests, and about 2 photos later he yelled, “Where’s the girl go who wanted something signed?!” Excited, I waved and began rushing over. As I maneuvered through the crowd, a staff member working the event stopped me and said, “No signatures after!” Coolio shook his head, and in the coolest fashion ever replied, “Nooo, we gon’ do it right now!” He met me in the middle, personalized and signed not only my sister’s Cd, but also the shirt we bought, as well as all the merchandise for my other friends in our group. That was the most amazing, unexpected thing that could’ve happened. Most celebrities probably would’ve ignored a request like that, but Coolio is obviously not the average celeb. He is just an awesome person! On my way out I shouted out to him, “You should’ve won Cook Off by the way!” (Which he really should’ve!) He giggled and hollered back, “No doubt mami!” My experience meeting Coolio is one I will never forget. I will always have a great story and nothing but wonderful things to say about that guy. Not only did he and his group give a great performance on stage, they went above and beyond for the true fans, and I will always have the utmost respect for that. Continue to do your thing man, and as you wrote on the Cd, “Be Cool!” I will continue to support all of your ventures, (I can’t wait to go get your cookbook now!) and I wish u nothing but more success in the future! Take it easy, and God bless u gangsta!
